I hate forgetting plastic bags for poop pick up when I leave the house. When I realize that my pocket is empty, I have to rush the dogs back home, hoping that no one poops before we get there. With Bags on Board, you’re never without a pick up bag—at least until the dispenser roll is empty.

The cylinder of 30 bags comes with a colorful dispenser available in various designs. The dispenser attaches to your dog’s leash, so a bag is always there when you need it. Refill bags can be purchased when you run out.

The plastic bags are 100 percent biodegradable, according to the packaging, with one disclaimer: “except as defined by California.”

I liked the convenience of bags that were always available. They’re sturdy and can hold the larger amounts of waste produced by dogs bigger than Cavaliers. And if you like your dog’s accessories to coordinate choose the chic leopard-print dispenser. It’s a neutral that’s always in style.

The Reluctant Consumer -- i.e., my husband -- points out that they’re more expensive than purchasing generic plastic sandwich bags at a big-box store or reusing plastic bags from the grocery store. That’s certainly something to consider if you’re watching your pennies these days, but if convenience trumps expense -- especially on those early rainy mornings -- they’re a good buy.

Look for them at Petco, PetsMart and other pet supply retailers. Retail price is $5.49 to $9.99. Made by The Bramton Company.

One of the outstanding features of this product is that the bags are biodegradable, which is not true of a plastic sandwich bag.
